Political Economy and National Security

Republic of Moldova is building its political and economic system in the context of an unresolved secession conflict, which has negative consequences for internal and regional security.

Studying the intersection of economics, politics, and security requires an interdisciplinary approach that includes ideas and tools from the fields of political science, economics, history, sociology, and conflict management.

Our goal is to expand and advance the study of the relationship between economics and politics for security by expertise, building a network of experts, and supporting relevant research and teaching.

Digital Transformation and Economic Analysis

CEEP initiatives in the field of data use aim to increase the living standards of the population by increasing the degree of transparency in the management of public assets, but also in the decision-making process. This process is a win-win for both citizens and public authorities.

We consider it important to identify data but also processes of public interest that are associated with data generation elements to reveal social, economic and political trends. At the same time, we support the idea of unifying and liberalizing data that are managed by local authorities.

We have launched initiatives aimed at bringing the citizen closer to the way public money is spent and managed, which leads to the accountability of policy makers.

We aim to launch a long-term process involving the business environment through collective action, focused on opening up information and data exchange, which are then used in the public-private dialogue. This will facilitate the development of a free market economy, the development of coherent economic analyzes and simulations.

Corporate Governance and Public Finance

In advanced market economies, the corporate governance system has been built gradually over the centuries, and today it can be defined as a complex system consisting of laws, regulations, policies, government institutions, professional associations and codes of ethics.

However, in countries with economies in transition, many details of such a system are still missing. Attempting to develop good corporate governance systems in these countries is hampered by problems such as complex corporate ownership structures, vague and confused relations between the state and the financial sector, weak legal and judicial systems, lack or underdevelopment of institutions and limited human resources.

This program raises questions of corporate governance and the problems of its application in Republic of Moldova.
